Sphere of Influence is looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer for a software development project in Fort Meade, MD. This team develops and enhances complex software systems that involve analytics, novel algorithm development, and large data sets for real time systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on programmer who can leverage the full range of software development technologies for big data software systems in the cloud. This is a great opportunity to be a central figure in a large ambitious program.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Develop Java algorithm intensive software tools and applications
• Enhance, test, and evaluate algorithms for data processing and exploitation
• Collaborate with colleagues and customers in delivering new features
• Build software that follows industry standard design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models

What You Need for this Position:

• Hands on experience with Java programming language and platforms
• Capable of writing clean, reliable, elegant, and high performance code
• Great design and problem solving skills with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence
• BS/BA in computer science or equivalent related technical experience
• Experience with Perl or Python is a plus
• Experience with Apache NiFi is a plus
