Sphere of Influence is looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer for a Scaled Agile Framework environment (SAFe) software development project in Springfield, VA. This team develops software that uses geospatial data to solve tactical, military and intelligence problems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on programmer who can leverage the full range of software development technologies for an algorithm intensive software system. This is a great opportunity to join a small team working in a challenging technical domain.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Develop Java algorithm intensive software applications
• Enhance, test and evaluate image processing algorithms for data processing and exploitation
• Migrate existing applications to the cloud
• Collaborate with colleagues and customers in delivering new features
• Build software that follows industry standard design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models

What You Need for this Position:

• Hands on experience with Java programming language and platforms
• Capable of writing clean, reliable, elegant, and high performance code
• Great design and problem solving skills with a strong bias for quality and engineering excellence
• BS/BA in computer science or equivalent in related technical experience
• Experience with Perl or Python is a plus
• Experience with C++ and C# is a plus
